In conjunction with the launch of the new Brooklyn Independent Television program BK 4 Reel: Brooklyn | Teens | Video, BIT held the Show Us Your Reel Brooklyn Teen Video Contest. Young people from all over the Borough were asked to submit 2-3 minute videos on the theme of what Brooklyn means to them.
The judges were Peter Hedges, writer/director of Dan in Real Life, writer of What's Eating Gilbert Grape?; Christina Norman, former President of MTV; Michael Pressman, writer/director of Frankie and Johnny are Married, and director of To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday; and John Tintori, Chair of the Graduate Division of NYU Film & Television.
The winners were presented their awards in a special ceremony held at Brooklyn Borough Hall on March 5, 2008, hosted by Errol Louis of the Daily News and CNN. Borough President Marty Markowitz spoke and Christna Norman presented the awards, generously donated by H.B. Communications and the Independence Community Foundation. The three talented winners were:
